Description
This letter has been written in many funny places & under rather extraordinary conditions. I wonder if it will ever get through? I'm going to risk it - if I can "hang on" to it! Orders to move again - so tramp, tramp, tramp!
28th We stopped at a place called Karagatch last night, we arrived there about 12 o'clock, all so tired. It poured all night - no ordinary rain, when we lay down it was quite fair, but not for long, we were awakened from our slumbers by splash, splash, splash & very soon we had pools all round us, over us, everywhere - the only sort of dry spot was the square-inch of ground on which we were lying. We all became very "damp", cold & irritable & did not appreciate our first night on Russian soil - far from it! We are to remain here for a few days, in which case the C.O. says we must go in to a building - he is to try & find a cottage for us. Three cheers, a roof over our heads once again! We'll not know ourselves. At present we are all soaked through & through, each garment seems wetter than the other - but
