The blanket was used by Edinburgh missionary William Mark whilst working in Paraguay. The blanket is referenced in two letters written by William Mark to his mother, in Edinburgh. He wrote that the blanket kept him warm during his first winter in Paraguay and hoped it would do the same for her.
