Description
Red and pink silk damask banner with blue cotton border, corded silk fringe and different painted decoration on each side.
Obverse: title scroll, SCOTTISH
NATIONAL OPERATIVE PLASTERERS FEDERAL UNION EDINBURGH DISTRICT. An arch within which, the plasterers Coat of Arms, with two plasterers as supporters, wearing smocks, the left one holds a trowel and the right one a plaster's float. Clasped hands below. Motto scroll, WHEN MAN TO MAN THE WARLD O'ER SHALL BRITHERS BE FOR A'THAT. Above the arch, the Edinburgh Coat of Arms, a scroll with the words EDINBURGH UNITED JOURNEYMEN PLASTERERS SOCIETY, held by two women. On the left pediment a Royal lion and on the right, a unicorn. A thistle at the centre of the arch.
Carrying tapes fixed by brass studs cast;
G. Tutill 83 City Road, sole manufacturer of
patent banners.
