Carried by the Edinburgh Bookbinders no.36 in the Edinburgh Reform Jubilee Procession, on 10 August 1832 and also in the Reform Demonstration of 1866.
The Edinburgh Union Society of Journeymen Bookbinders was founded in 1822 at a time when Union activity was suppressed. The Union had the support of many local bookbinding workers who feared the spread of unapprenticed labour.
