Painting of Robert Lowe standing in a bath being drenched under a shower operated by a plumber. .Bottom scroll, white with gold lettering, QUENCH THE "LOWE"; The name A.THOM, PAINTER painted on floorboards. Robert Lowe was the Liberal M.P for Calne, Lancashire, renowned for his outspoken views in the1860's, which were opposed to the extension of franchise to the masses.
