Description
A statue of the Duke of Wellington on horseback stands on a large stone plinth and is situated in front of the stepped entrance to General Register House at the east end of Princes Street. The street is busy with pedestrians and there are trams and cars travelling along the road. The wide pavement is edged by tall decorative streetlights.

Princes Street is one of the main thoroughfares and shopping areas in Edinburgh. It was created as part of James Craig's New Town development and named in honour of George III's sons. With the exception of St John's Church there is no building on the southern side of Princes Street, allowing spectacular views of Edinburgh Castle and Old Town.
