Song sheet illustration for the Haunt of the Fairies is large oval portrait of a bare footed maiden, sitting on a river bank surrounded by plenty of lush green foliage. Two white doves are perched on her arm as she gazes intently at them. In the background is a water fountain, behind which we can see a small staircase travelling upwards to a small beam of light, the portal for the fairies. This illustration shows John Brandard's precise and ornate work, with the rich colours used to the exemplify the Romantic imagery within the portrait.
