Description
Chief Tamesese and other Samoan war-chiefs gather around a Kava bowl. Four are sitting with a mat in front of them and five are standing at the back in front of a grass hut. One is wearing an elaborate headdress.

The image is from the photograph album entitled 'The Cruise of the Equator' of Robert Louis Stevenson's travels around the Gilbert Islands and Samoa in 1889.
