Title
First page of 'A Hunting Family' in Randolph Caldecott's '"Graphic" Pictures'
Description
Two pictures, one above the other, and at the top of the page, in the centre, is the title, "A HUNTING PARTY".

In the very foreground, stand a horse and rider. The rider is dressed in a red jacket, jodhpurs, a hat and boots for hunting. He looks back anxiously at a group of horses and riders behind him. Dogs run in the undergrowth, and hand-lettering at the bottom of the picture reads, "ARRIVAL OF THE HUNTBATCHES AT THE COVER-SIDE & ANXIETY OF THE MASTER OF THE HOUNDS."

The lower picture shows the group of horses and riders up close and in profile. Men, women, and children, all mounted on horses of differing sizes and colours. The horses and riders are labelled: "MISS H. on HER DARLING CHESNUT; SQUIRE HUNTBATCH ON HIS HUNTER; JAS. H. (LEGAL) ON THE COB.' DAVID H (MA F.S.A.) ON THE OLD MARE; F.H. (NAVAL) & G.H. (MERCANTILE) ON THE CARRIAGE HORSES; JOHNNY H. ON THE ASS; BOB H. (schoolboy) ON HIS PONY".
