Title
The Blind Doe, illustrated page from 'Baby's Own Aesop'
Description
A doe bends her neck to eat, looking out of the picture with one eye as she does so. She is grazing beside sand dunes and the sea. Behind her two more doe run inland away from a boat where one man is pointing a bow and arrow and another is sitting with the oars. The rhyme reads,
"The Blind Doe

A poor half-blind doe her one eye
kept shoreward, all danger to spy,
As she fed by the sea,
Poor innocent! She
Was shot from a boat passing by.

Watch on all sides."
