A busy street scene with men and women, some of whom are collecting water from the well in a barrel. A lamp is attached to the top of the well. Construction work is being undertaken beside the well. A hole has been dug in the road, one of the workers is using a pickaxe. A horse with an empty cart is in the hole. On the road a man with a cane is walking past carrying a package.
