Suma (Suma) Chapter 12 from the "Tale of Genji" inspired series "Murasaki Shikibu Genji Cards"
Prince Mitsuuji stops on the seashore to talk to two women. The women are wearing kimono patterned with bold geometric designs. One woman stands with a large tray of fish balanced on her head while the other woman crouches down with a basket of seafood at her feet. The noble man is wearing a fine kimono and is holding a branch of cherry blossom in his hand. Down by the edge of the water a scantily clad man runs happily along the shore carrying a basket. A flock of plovers flies overhead amid the cherry blossom.
