This wooden panel is one of 8 panels on a stable for sacred horses. This scene depicts the famous three wise monkeys of "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil", and is especially for children. Monkeys are used to decorate the stable because it is believed that monkeys can protect horses from disease. This idea came from the Ying-Yang Five Elements theory; horse represents fire and monkey represents water, water can dowse fire. This monkey panel is very popular with the tourists because of its uniqueness.
