Jack Kane was Lord Provost of Edinburgh from 1972 to 1975. He was the city's first Labour Lord Provost. He represented Craigmillar for 38 years and was chairman of the Craigmillar Festival Society.
The Royal Scottish Museum building was designed by Francis Fowke and begun in 1861.
