The Village of the Water of Leith from a window in Rothesay Terrace
The work is in the medium oil on canvas. The artist has depicted the village of the water of Leith in the late 19th century. The painting depicts a view of old cottages in Dean Village which John R. Findlay demolished to redevelop with communal tenement buildings such as Well Court and Hawthorn Buildings. In this picture the demolition has just started.
