Description
The news to-day was a spontaneous & whole-hearted awakening of unparalleled enthusiasm, I suppose, seldom, if ever heard before among the in-habitants of Imtarfa Barrack Hospital! It is almost impossible to believe the great tidings. So great has been the strain & stress, so great the sadness & suffering of the past 4 ½ years, that altho' we now cannot help rejoicing in the final victory, yet there is a great sadness in the rejoicing.

Nov: 18th Imtarfa Hospital - Malta.
Another week gone by & still here & still in bed! "Some" hope! News from home says a General Election is imminent & we also hear that "Count William Hohenzollern" has escaped to Holland.

Nov: 21st Imtarfa Hospital - Malta.
Famous in future history, as the day on which the German fleet surrendered to us!! Admiral Beatty, from his flagship "The Queen Elizabeth", hoisted this morning, the following signal :- "The German flag is to be hauled down at sunset & is not to be hoisted again without permission"! Grand!! This message was accepted & obeyed by 70 warships of the German Navy! They surrendered this evening off the Firth of Forth, to a fleet of 1000 vessels of Great Britain, her dominions, [?] & armies! So the mighty German fleet, whose strength had spurred the Fatherland on to plunge the world into convulsion, has hauled down the German flag at the request of the British Admiral, & that flag is not to be again hoisted without permission! What a blow to the vainglorious
