Castlehill is the section of the Royal Mile running from Castle Esplanade to the Lawnmarket in Edinburgh.
Laus Deo means 'Praise God' and the words were styled in wrought iron. The letter 'R' on the building (and the unseen "M") probably means Rynd and McNaught, the first recorded owners.
