There are high-rise newer developments in the foreground and older tenement buildings on either side of the street in the middle distance. A large crane dominates the skyline beyond the houses where there is a construction site and further along is the large white leisure complex of Fountainpark.

Fountainbridge is an area in the south-west of central Edinburgh, to the west of Tollcross. The area is centred around the western section of a road also called Fountainbridge. The Union Canal now begins in this area having originally extended a little further east.
