UK biodiversity Action Plan status - names the Northern Brown Argus a 'Priority Species'.
The Northern Brown Argus butterfly reappeared in Holyrood Park in 2005 after an absence of almost 140 years.
Its habitat was destroyed when the new road from Duddingston village to St Leonards was constructed in 1856-57, but it reappeared after work by Historic Environment Scotland to encourage its food plant the Common Rockrose.
It can be distinguished by a white dot on the forewing.
