Description
10th Nov: Imtarfa Hospital - Malta.
Excitement runs high! We hear rumours of an armistice! The Germans have asked for peace. They have been given the conditions of the armistice and till 11a.m. on Monday to accept or refuse! The Kaiser has renounced the [?] & in most of the towns in "Hunland", the Workmen's & Soldiers' Committees are in control. Things are moving rapidly now!

11th Nov: Imtarfa Hospital - Malta.
"Armistice Day"
- - - - - - - - - "God Save the King"!
At 12p.m. to-day, the C.O. read out the official wire, received by the Governor: - "11.11.18 - Armistice signed 5a.m. to-day" - then followed the special telegram from Foch: -
"11.11.18. Hostilities will cease upon whole front on 11th Nov: at 11a.m. The Allied troops will not cross the line reached at that date, till further orders". The news was received with ringing cheers, & wild scenes of en-thusiasm followed, the Tommies gong mad with excitement. I could see it all from my verandah - where my bed is. The mid-day gun was the signal for a simultaneous peal from all the church bells of the Island. The men-of-war & merchant vessels in both harbours vigorously blew their sirens & for one whole hour the island, from end to end, rung with the jubilant cries & peals of victory!
