Description
The houses are mostly stonebuilt. One house is a mixture of stonework and wooden planks. The nearest building has wooden shutters which are closed. Several of the houses have rickety outside stairs leading to first floor dwellings. The door of one building has a horseshoe on it. All the buildings have windows and chimney stacks. Tiles overhang many of the windows.

Kinniburgh's Close was situated off the Grassmarket but has since been demolished.
The handwritten note below the image reads, 'Kinniburgh's Close, south side of Grassmarket, east [?] of Corn Exchange, entirely demolished.'
