To avoid any demonstration to mark the passing of the last cable car, the transition was made without ceremony, during Saturday 23rd June 1923. Electric car 12 (rebuilt from a cable car) is here on the replacing service. Cable car 217 was rebuilt to run a further twenty years as a similar electric car. (Alan W.
