Description
A view of the west side of St Giles Cathedral, Edinburgh on the occasion of the re-opening in 1883. The ornately carved entrance is surrounded by an awning draped with flags. A procession of clergymen files into the cathedral.
There are two rows of soldiers in highland dress consisting of kilt and bearskin hat. They carry rifles. There are other men wearing top hats and tailcoats and carrying canes watching the procession. In the foreground is a horse and carriage.
