Title
Edinburgh Castle and the old city wall
Description
Edinburgh Castle sits on a rocky outcrop in the distance. The fortification has a half-moon battery and loops in its walls. In the foreground is a narrow downward sloping street, also known as a vennel. Houses are either side of the cobblestone thoroughfare with steps leading up to the doorways of some of the slate roofed houses. Street lamps are along both sides of the vennel. A crenellated section from the old city wall or Flodden wall is visible.
