Rare in the Lothians, Holyrood Park is the only place that Adder's Tongue Fern is found in Edinburgh. Adder's Tongue Fern is an unusual fern, with a bright green, oval and upright frond. It appears in the grasslands of Hunter's Bog between June and August, spending the rest of the year underground as a rhizome. Its population in the Park is sizeable and stable.
