This two-storeyed, 17th century house is the oldest house in Kirkliston. It has a marriage lintel above the door inscribed, "16 I.F.I.D.82".
The parish of Kirkliston has its origins in the late 12th century when a church was established on this site overlooking the River Almond. The first surviving mention of a parliamentary assembly in Scotland in 1235 took place in Kirkliston. The parliament developed from meetings of the ‘King’s great council’, which were gatherings of nobles and churchmen who advised the King on policy and matters of justice.
