Description
A photograph of the businesses on the corner of Causewayside and Sciennes Place, Edinburgh. At the corner is Charles Carter, electric light and power engineer and next door is James Hart the undertaker and R Stewart, corn merchant. The buildings are all quite irregular shapes with many different roof levels and chimneys. In the background is a very tall factory chimney.

Causewayside, or Causeyside, formed part of an ancient approach to Edinburgh from the south. It now refers to a section of road from West Preston Street, close to the Meadows, to Duncan Street.
