Description
I've been getting up before lunch these days & yest. was allowed out for a drive. It was a most gorgeous sunny day, so two of the other sisters & I went out & "razzled" to Saint Antonia Gardens - about 2 miles away. The Gardens are most beautiful, they are called after Grand Master Antonio de Paula, who in 1625 built there a palace surrounded by most beautiful gardens. The Palace is now the residence of the Governor during a portion of the summer months & is also lent to prominent people who happen to visit the Island & make there a long stay. The Gardens are principally planted with orange trees, but contain also other beautiful trees, flowering shrubs, flower-beds & fountains.
How I enjoyed that drive! Such a treat after nothing but the walls of Imtarfa Barracks for the past 10 days!

Oct: 31st Imtarfa Hospital - Malta.
Fine weather again, after 2 terrible days of wind & rain & oh the cold & misery of this desolated spot during these 2 long days! Yest: aftern. `I was allowed out another drive. The same two sisters, who "looked after" me last time escorted me again yest:. This time we went such a lively drive to the other side of the Island, perhaps it was a bit far, as a Carozzi is not just the most comfortable of conveyances to "travel" in! These Carozzi are different from every vehicle I have ever seen! They sort of re-semble a "Victoria for two" with a canopy overhead & seated for 4! The canopy very much resembles the top of an old fashioned 4 poster bed!
