Members of the Wester Hailes Representative Council Food Co-operative are pictured including, Ian Cant, Lynn Main, John Kennedy and Maud Wylie. The Food Co-op donated and distributed food to local groups.
The Wester Hailes Representative Council was set up in 1981, and seeks to promote the groups, associations, organisations and commercial enterprises developed by the local people of Wester Hailes. By 1983, over 30 local groups were members of the Representative Council. Its aims are to create a strong and inclusive community by encouraging participation in its activities by all members of the diverse Wester Hailes population. In 1997, over 10 per cent of the adult population attended the Annual General Meeting.
