This photograph has the caption 'Officials and Workman engaged on the works since January 1884', and is taken on the 16th June 1888. These men have worked together for 4 years since the beginning of the construction, and have likely spent much of their time off after work together. There is a true sense of camaraderie in the photograph.
Charles Ireland, blacksmith, is second from the left in the second row from the back.
