A double image of the ruined nave and other remains of Holyrood Abbey, Edinburgh shows a doorway and two window frames with tracery detail still intact. There are partially intact walls and the lower parts of freestanding columns within the structure.

Holyrood Abbey stands next to Holyrood Palace in Edinburgh. The Abbey was founded by David I in 1128, several hundred years before Holyrood Palace. The Abbey was badly damaged during the Reformation. It was finally abandoned in 1768 after the roof collapsed.
