Title
The Canongate, Edinburgh, looking west
Description
The Canongate is busy with people. Some ride on horses, others pull a horse and cart. Amongst the people are two women carrying, heavy bags, a man in highland costume, a man on horseback gesturing to someone on the street below, and a couple dressed in finery. Many of the tenement buildings contain shops on the ground floor. Street lamps are fastened on railings hanging from the walls of the building. Washing is hung out of some of the windows.
