When this photograph was taken, in 2002, the fishing boat seen berthed by the lighthouse was the only remaining fishing boat in Newhaven. Her owner was a lobster fisherman whose family had fished from the village for many years.

The present Newhaven Harbour was opened in 1876, and was marked by a day of celebrations. This included a procession around the village and into Edinburgh.

This view of Newhaven Harbour was taken in 2002. The fishing boat berthed by the lighthouse is now the only remaining fishing boat in Newhaven. Her owner is a lobster fisherman, whose family have fished from the village for many years. In the foreground is a small restored yawl.
