Excerpt from page - "Morningside 1786 - To be sold the lands of Morningside in the parish of St Cuthbert's and shire of Edinburgh, with a commodious mansion house, a neat garden, a new set of office houses, a bleaching green, a well of good water and other out door conveniences - the situation is remarkably pleasant, lying between the turnpike road from Wright's Houses to Braid on the west and the road by Bruntsfield to the Grange Loan on the east. The whole lands consist of about twenty two Scots acres have a right to a seat in the West Church, and are held of the Magistrates of Edinburgh for £8.19.1" Caledonian Mercury Jan 7 1786.
