Gibson, Patrick

Biography

Patrick Gibson, born December 1782. Educated at the High School in Edinburgh and at a private academy. He was an apprentice to Alexander Nasmyth and attended the Trustee's Academy, then taught by mr Graham.
He was appointed professor of painting in the academy at Dollar and moved there from Edinburgh in 1824.
He married Isabella Scott in 1818 and they had three daughters, a son died in infancy.
