Description
A crowded scene in the Grassmarket, Edinburgh, shows people leading horses and carts and unloading produce, such as hay or barrels. Cows stand amongst the people and horses while a dog sleeps under an empty cart. Behind them there is a row of buildings, including some shops.

The Grassmarket is a central area situated below Edinburgh Castle. A weekly market was held there from 1477 until 1911. The area continues to be a popular area for socialising. The Grassmarket was also the site of many public executions
