George V, west end of Princes Street decorated for state visit, July 1911
Description
Large crowds waiting for King George V are gathered along the street and also in the grounds of St John's Church. Princes Street and its buildings have been decorated in anticipation of the royal visit. Around the corner and away from the procession there are carriages waiting on an adjoining road. In the background are St Cuthbert's Church and Edinburgh Castle.

George V became King in May 1910 and the following year made his first visit to Scotland. He stayed at Holyrood Palace with Queen Mary, the Prince of Wales and Princess Mary during their visit to Edinburgh in July 1911.
