Biography
Dr William Inglis Clark FRSE was the second son of the Rev. Thomas Grieve Clark. He attended the Royal High School and the University of Edinburgh where he studied to become a chemist. His research involved the purification of anaesthetics and he invented the process of putting nauseous medicines in capsules. He became senior partner in Duncan Flockhart & Co, manufacturing chemists.
One of his hobbies was photography and as well as images of Scotland, Clark travelled to the Alps, Burma, Siam, Java, India, China and Japan where he indulged his passion for photography. A book was produced by his wife after his death which detailed his travels and is illustrated with his photographs - Pictures and Memories by Jane Inglis Clark, Moray Press, 1939.
His obituary appears in The Scotsman
