Description
One photographic album of members of the British Women's Temperance Association (BWTA) Christian Union presented to Eliza Wigham by the Union on her leaving Edinburgh, 1898. Contains sepia and black and white portrait photographs of members of the Union, many annotated by hand with the sitters' names. The book has a thick leather black cover with gold coloured inset and edging to the pages, and simply gold coloured metal clasp. Inscription inside 'To Miss Eliza Wigham, on her leaving Edinburgh, a token of love and esteem from the members of the executive of the Scottish Christian Union, B.W.T.A., Edinburgh May 1898'.

Eliza Wigham was a notable campaigner for women's emancipation and suffrage, the abolition of slavery and also an active member of the British Women's Temperance Association's Christian Union. When her remaining Edinburgh family died in 1897, she moved to Dublin where she died soon after. You can listen to a
