Location
Edinburgh and Scottish Collection
Rock House is situated immediately below Calton Hill, on a short street also called Calton Hill which runs north-west from Waterloo Place. It has been the home and commercial premises of several of the most important Scottish photographers. It was perhaps most famously inhabited by D. O. Hill and Robert Adamson who used the garden as a location for many of their portraits. The house was subsequently occupied by John and Thomas Annan, Archibald Burns, and Alexander Adam and Francis Caird Inglis. The house is currently a private residence.
