In May 2020, Scotland was in full Lockdown while in May 2021, Edinburgh was moving out of its second coronvirus pandemic lockdown and into Level 2 restrictions with much of the economy now able to reopen.
(The Balmoral Hotel clock had stopped in 2020 and couldn’t be repaired due to pandemic restrictions).
