Henry (Harry) Lauder was born at 4 Bridge Street, Portobello. The family moved to Chesterfield when Harry was about 10 years old, then in 1890 to Hamilton. Although working in a local mine Harry was determined to become and entertainer, a dream he achieved on an international scale.
