Coopers of Leith banner, 1822
Description
One silk banner for the coopers of Leith, 1822. The banner is dark blue and grey and is painted with different designs on each side . This side is the obverse and is painted with the motto, 'ELLECTI NON FRANGI', (choice not to be discouraged / the chosen are not discouraged). Between the text is the seal of the coopers in gold, this features tools of their trade surrounded by a border of thistles.
