Lawnmarket Carters Society Banner

Description

One black silk banner for the Lawnmarket Carters Society. The banner is painted in mirror image on both sides. Title scroll cartouche reads, 'The LAWNMARKET CARTERS SOCIETY (black on gold), the motto scroll reads, 'Instituted 6th: JUNE 1655 (black on gold). The Centre panel of the banner features a Horse pulling a cart carrying two barrels, along with a carter leading a horse. On the obverse the words Carter's Society are missing and on the reverse the words Lawnmarket Car are missing.
