A view of back of Castlebarns house on Morrison Street, Edinburgh showing the L plan with stair in the corner. The walls are constructed from rough stone and the bottom half is whitewashed. The bottom windows have wooden shutters on them and a street lamp is attached to one of the walls. Behind a wooden fence is a joiner and cabinetmaker's workshop.

Castlebarns is an earlier name for a short section of Morrison Street running west from Semple Street. The name was lost in the latter half of the 19th century when the name Morrison Street, which had originally referred to the section of the street west of Dewar Place, began to be applied to the street as far east as Lothian Road. St Anthony's Place to the east of Castlebarns, and Tobago Street to the west were similarly absorbed into Morrison Street.
