Lawnmarket, Royal Mile

This is a selection of images of the Lawnmarket, the section of the Royal Mile below Edinburgh Castle. The area is seen through the eyes of different artists and interpreted in a variety of media.

Throughout, the pictures show the assortment of tenement buildings standing tall as newer developments have come and gone. The community spirit is evident amongst the closes and in the ever-changing street scenes. Once a bustling market place for produce from the land, now the area is a busy street filled with traffic, pedestrians and tourists.
