Biography
Photographer and miniature painter Silvester Parry was born in Malpas, Cheshire in 1838.
He started working for photographer Thomas Edge in Preston, opening his own studio at 38. Chaddock Street in 1869. Moving to Chester he had several other studios between the years of 1874-1888.
In the Wales Census return of 1881 (where he was staying in a boarding house in Rhyl with his wife and family) his occupation is entered as a photographer with 5 hands and 1 boy, suggesting that his businesses were doing well.
By the late 1880s he appears to be mostly involved with painting, and is credited with painting several portraits from photographs of members of the House of Commons.
He died in Liverpool in 1901, aged 63.
