The is one of a collection of photographs kindly loaned to us by Bill Hall for our digital collections. It contains images dating from the early 1900s to the 1980s, taken across Scotland.
A picture of the Clark Family shows head of the household Alexander Clark, who born 1813, sitting in the middle wearing a bowler hat. His son Alexander, a quarryman who lived at Loupilees just down the road from Wilkie's basin is standing on the left. Jennet (Janet) (standing) who married John Tait is on the right and seated is Mary Clark, Bill's great-grandmother who married John Henderson. Bill's mother thought the photograph had been taken around 1870 when her grandmother was about 11 years old. Alexander's (snr) wife Johann Gentles was at her son's house when this photo was taken but appears in the photograph of her son's family.
