Description
An image of Portobello High Street, Edinburgh at the corner of Brighton Place and Bath Street. Businesses line each side of the street including the Argyle Hotel and JL Ferrie Wine & Spirit Merchant. In the distance the clock tower of the Town Hall (now Police Station) can be seen. Many people are walking down the street and several horses and carts are moving along the cobbled street.

This image was possibly taken by Thomas Polson Lugton, who worked from various Edinburgh locations between 1892 and 1918. The trade name "Poulton" seen at the bottom of the image, is derived from his middle and last names.
