Photographs taken whilst Sheila was on her way home. Excerpt taken from " A nursing sister 's diary p.8 "

....After four days, when we were very happy - knowing we were at last on our way home - we reached Valetta, where we were met by the P.M. and all put into ambulances and sent to the different Hospitals on the island. I went with seven others to "St. Georges" and found several friends there, one I was at school with and several from the "London". Altogether I had a great many acquaintances in Malta. We were well stared at when driving along in our white caps, Serbian Boy Scout hats, out-at-toe slippers etc. I had not got any shoes in Athens as they asked £4 for a pair of boots there! My thin pumps had got very wet in the life-boat and when dry had split right across. - still, they took me to Malta all right. One of the Sisters on the "Grandtully Castle" lent me a pair of smart white shoes and stockings and pressed me to keep them. But I gave them back again as the others were envious to see me so grand.
